Daddy got to spend the whole day with Tessa today. It is always such a joy to hold her, feed her and even watch her sleep. She looks so warm and cozy and is having no problem maintaining her body temeperature in the open crib.
Tessa did very well with her feedings today. She took six of her eight feedings by bottle. Unfortunately, they did have to reinsert the feeding tube this morning for her 8:00 feeding. She was just too tired. Reinserting the tube was not a pleasant experience in that Tessa cried her soft little cry and her eyes filled up with tears. Obviously, we do not like to see her upset.
She continues to gain weight and today her weight is 4lb 4oz. Because of her rapid weight gain, they did a chest x-ray today to make sure fluid was not accumulating in her lungs. Her chest looked good and the results of the x-ray showed no change from before. They also lowered the flow on her oxygen from .3 liters to .2 liters and Tessa made it through the day with no bradiacardia or desats. We are thrilled.
The eye doctor returned today for another eye exam and fortunately he saw no change from his examination last week. He will reexamine her next week but for now the ROP (retinopathy of prematurity) has not progressed any further. We are still very concerned about her eyes but thankful that her condition has not worsened. We know that God gives the body the ability to heal and that God also answers prayer.

Anthony, I'm glad you had good "Daddy and his little girl" time yesterday!! I'm sure it is soo hard to go back to work after getting to spend more time with her.
I'm sure there will be no better birthday gift for Nancy than to spend the whole day tomorrow loving Tessa!!

Little Tessa looks so snug and peaceful in this picture! I'm sure daddy and Tessa enjoyed the day snuggling together! Please know that the challenge with the feeding tube will soon be behind you all. I am glad that Daddy got to spend the whole day with his little angel. And it is great that Mommy will get to spend her birthday all day too since it is on the weekend. There is no better gift!
