Tessa has been busy today. Her night went well and blood sugar levels stayed low. She rested well. This morning when Nancy arrived the respiratory therapist told her that he had a surprise for her. Tessa had been removed from the ventilator and placed on the nasal cannula. She is doing well on it but they are keeping her oxygen levels higher than desired. They may have to switch her to the CPAP but this is less comfortable for her so we pray that they can lower the oxygen levels on the nasal cannula. She is receiving another dose of caffeine to help her respiratory system. The results of her brain scan came back today and only showed minimal bleeding. This is nothing to be concerned about at the moment. We are thankful.
Today the nurse practitioner removed Tessa's arterial line in her umbilical artery. This has been used for blood transfusions and blood gas tests. It usually has to be removed after 10-15 days to avoid infection. Lastly, Tessa also changed addresses today. She has moved from Room 208 to 206...a nice change of scenery. Room 208 had to be cleaned.
Tomorrow they plan to resume feedings and continue lower doses of caffeine. She will continue to receive sugars and fats through her IV to give her calories. Thanks again to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
Daddy went back to work today but visited his little girl before going in this morning. It was certainly hard not being with her today. Unfortunately updates to the blog may start coming later in the day but we will continue to keep you updated frequently.
