Tessa has done well today but her progress forward has slowed down. She has been anemic for a while and the doctors have been monitoring it closely. They feel that it may be slowing her growth and contributing to her need for supplemental oxygen so today they decided to give her another blood transfusion. This required that they put an IV back into her leg this evening to administer the transfusion. It was hard for us in that it seemed to be a step backwards but we know that transfusions have helped her tremendously in the past. Obviously, we want what is best for little Tessa and we trust that God knows her need.
Additional blood provides her more cells to more efficiently carry oxygen throughout her body. This could help her breathe with less supplemental oxygen, get more from her feedings, or reduce the frequency of bradycardia. Today they also started her on an inhaled steroid for her breathing and increased the lipids(fat) and protein that is added to her milk. She has gained some weight so they are adjusting these based on her higher weight. Today Tessa tipped the scale at 3lbs 6oz.

I am very sorry to hear that Miss Tessa requires another transfusion. I'm sure this will give her the strength to mature so she can soon go home.
Yesterday Barbara and Miss Dara came to visit me. Of course, we had to look at pictures of Miss Tessa. Dara was facinated with the picture of Tessa and the "big bottle". We explained that the bottle is not big, but that Tessa is so little.
Please know that we think of you all every day and you remain in our prayers.
God has done great and mighty things for Tessa and I'm sure He wont stop now!! It is encouraging that He knows our every need before we even speak it. BUT LET'S KEEP SPEAKING IT!!

I'm sure that Little Tessa will bounce right back from this. She has been through so much and she truly has proven herself a fighter...she will overcome this with renewed energy. We are very happy to hear that she is still gaining weight. Please know that God is watching over each of you and will provide for your needs. I am glad to read that Tessa is still gaining weight. The blood transfusion will give Tessa the boost that she needs. God will continue to take care of your little angel as he always has in the past. Lots of thoughts and prayers coming your way.
