Tessa has been quite fussy today.....except when she is being held by mommy or daddy. The nurses in the NICU say that it is OK to spoil them while they are here.
The results of the x-ray showed improvement in Tessa's lungs. As a result, they have decided to put her on a regular diuretic twice a day. It is not as strong as the one she has been given the last couple of days but will help to keep her lungs clear. They will need to monitor her electrolytes while on the diuretic so she will need a blood test every other day which involves pricking her heel when needed. She is not going to like getting her heel stuck again regularly. We thought we were past this phase but it should only be needed for a short time.
They also put Tessa on a new medication today called Mylicon which helps her eliminate gas from her system. It looks like Pepto Bismol and she seems to like it when Nurse Shirley puts it in her mouth. Some of her discomfort today could be caused by gas pains. She did had some bradycardia today but usually she can bring her heart rate back up on her own without additional oxygen. Her weight today was 3lb 2.5oz. Although progress forward is sometimes slow, we have no doubt and sincerely believe that God is continuing his work.
John 12:44
Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.

It seems to me that Little Tessa has not been fussy much at all, given all that she has gone through. She is allowed her fussy days~~Lord knows the rest of us would have been fussin' all the time! So you give Little Tessa a big kiss from me and tell her that I said it is OK to be fussy once in awhile! She is an angel for all that she has had to endure, we all have learned from her! I hope your weekend with your beautiful daughter has been wonderful. I'm sure she has enjoyed it. May God continue to bless each of you! You remain in our prayers! All our love!
