Unfortunately, Tessa was not quite ready to come off the ventilator today. The respiratory therapist had to reintubate her late this afternoon and put her back on the the conventional ventilator to keep her lungs inflated. She is still a little small and just needs to grow a little more. She is taking her feedings well and we are confident that it won't be long before she begins to put on more weight. The ventilator settings are set to very low rates but she still needs the additional support to take the deep breaths that are needed. We are told by the doctors that any time off the ventilator is definitely a step in the right direction.
Overall, Tessa had a great day. Her oxygen desaturations have greatly decreased and her vital signs are good. She is on 26% oxygen which is only 5% more than regular room air. Grandma and Aunt Gloria spent another day with us and are thrilled with the progress they see since their visit a few weeks ago. Mommy and daddy even got to give Tessa a quick little kiss before they put her back on the ventilator. We loved it and our hearts rejoiced in this special moment together.

Oh my goodness! I think this may be my favorite picture yet!!
Glad to hear that although Tessa is back on the ventalator she is making progress. I'm sure the feedings will make her much stronger.
Love You Guys!!

Checking in on Baby Tessa this beautiful Monday morning. Praying that the feedings will start to plump her up and strengthen her.
I love the picture! I pray that Mommy, Daddy and Tessa all had a good night. I am so glad that Tessa's oxygen desaturations have decreased and that she is still taking her feedings well. Praise God! I hope and pray for another good day.
Love you guys,
Melissa
AWWWWW, Nancy, that is the sweetest little picture of you kissing Tessa! I'm so glad she is doing well.
