Wow. Tessa is now 6 weeks old. At times it is hard to believe but then other times we know that we have lived every moment of the past 6 weeks. In all of tthe ups and downs, we give thanks to God. We would not be where we are today if not for everything we have already experienced. He has blessed us with a beautiful 6 week old little girl who is happy and growing every day.
Tessa is doing so well with her feedings. Starting out at little more than a teaspoon of milk per day, it is awesome that she is now approaching a teaspoon per hour through the syringe. We look forward to the day that she can take a bottle and we know that it will come. As soon as Tessa is up to full feeds for her size, they will stop giving her the lipids and hyperal liquid nutrition through the PICC line in her arm. So many of Tessa's roommates in the NICU have moved on faster or have been released from the hospital and we know that our day will also come.
Our friends, Shelly, Paige, and Karen visited Tessa yesterday. We enjoyed their company and being able to go out with Shelly and Paige for lunch. They thought Tessa was beautiful and of course, we agree. God is smiling down on us.

Congratulations on Tessa's 6 week b'day! Our son was born at 28 weeks and we were at Women's Hospital for 56 days. We celebrated everyday and also took tons of pictures. You have done a great job documenting her journey and know that she will enjoy this in years to come. Our son just turned 6 years old. Reading your blog has been an incredible experience in that we see and feel your faith. Thanks for allowing others to share. We think of the NICU team often and are lucky we still have them in our lives. They will always be part of your family. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
It sounds like Tessa has progressed so well since her surgery. I am so thankful she is able to tolerate her feedings .I'm sure she will grow by leaps and bounds now.

I am so thankful that little Tessa has not suffered any complications with her gut. I will continue to pray that she can absorb that wonderful mother's milk, grow, and thrive.
Congratulations Tessa on your 6th week birthday! Keep on growing for everyone! You don't know how much of an inspiration you and your parents have been to alot of people! We will keep on praying for you! Maybe you'll be able to give your parents the best Christmas present ever, by being able to go home for Christmas!

WOW Tessa....you're finally 6 weeks old"....getting to be a big girl....the only way to go now is up....keeping drinking that nutrious mommy milk and soon you will be big and strong and be on your way home......I know your mommy and daddy can't wait...
