Tessa just had her echocardiogram. Unfortunately, she would not be still. Hence, she has been labeled a wiggle worm. They may have to do another echocardiogram later today or tomorrow to get all the images they need of her heart. Daddy instructed her to be still but she did not listen... something to look forward to. The nurses have decided that she does not like to be bothered so they try to disturb her as little as possible.
The echocardiogram showed the PDA is basically unchanged in the amount of bloodflow. It is still moderate in size and is sending too much blood to the lungs. The surprising part is that Tessa is not showing any symptoms at this point. She is breathing regular room air at 21% oxygen much of the time and her blood gas levels are very good. The neonatologist is hesitant to order surgery if Tessa is not showing symptoms. He will continue to talk with the cardiologist about her condition and the appropriate treatment options. We may know more later today or tomorrow after morning rounds.
God obviously knows best and we pray that he gives the doctors wisdom in making the appropriate decisions that benefit Tessa's immediate and long term health. God knows her heart better than any of us. Thanks so much for your prayers.

Too cute about the wiggle worm! She takes after her mommy for sure then. :) That's good to know she's resting peacfully and not showing any symptons today. I'm so glad the doctors are being very cautious with your little girl. Hopefully she'll be stronger when I come to visit her in a few weeks.

Continuing to pray for supernatural healing for Tessa's PDA, wisdom for her doctors, and peace and rest for her parents.
Shelly thinks Tessa takes after her mommy with the wiggle worm deal!
Look at who told her to be still!! The wiggle worm deal needs to be re-thought!!

Shelly is right on the fact that she takes after her mommy. As long as I have known Nancy she is never still. :o) I am glad to hear that the doctors are not rushing to do the surgery. God has provided a great group of doctors and nurses to take care of Little Miss Tessa and I know they will make the right decision. As always, lot of thoughts and prayers coming your way.
Love you guys,
Melissa
