Today has certainly been a day of ups and downs. We are thankful for the good and choose to focus on the positive. Today Tessa was given her first taste of milk. She has a feeding tube in her stomach and is given .3 mililiters of breast milk per hour through a syringe. This is a very small amount at a very slow rate to see if her system will accept it.
Although considered normal, Tessa has continued to lose weight. She is currently at 1 lb 4 oz. She will hopefully begin gaining weight once she starts feeding regularly. This could be awhile but all in God's time. It is in his hands. Tessa's blood sugar has been normal for the past day or so but today it is back up to 230. Her small body just cannot regulate this very well. It is just so painful to see them prick her small foot so often and see her cry. Her blood oxygen levels also continue to go up and down causing us great concern but she has a very capable staff of doctors and nurses caring for her. It seems likely that she will have to go back on the ventilator but only time will tell. We must trust that God is taking care of our little girl.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Dear Little Family,
Your love and faith will guide Tessa through. Your daily accounts bring so many people to him and focus on such a tiny child. Thank you both for sharing your joys in each milestone.
God has blessed you!
