We have a beautiful little girl who is very resilient. We cannot wait until her current struggles are just an inspiring memory of what God has brought her through. For some reason, Tessa is not too fond of Fridays. As always we have lots to be thankful for today but we did face several tests of our faith. They have one again removed Tessa from her feedings of breast milk. This is because they found traces of blood in her stomach and lungs when suctioning her ventilator and stomach tubes. Taking her off her feeding will give her system rest and allow them to monitor this more closely. The blood could be old or it could be from an abrasion in her throat. It could also be related to the PDA sending too much blood to her lungs causing fluid buildup. Time will reveal the answer. In the meantime, she received a diuretic today and will be put on a chronic diuretic tomorrow to decrease fluid retention. Her fluid intake has been adjusted and they are keeping a check on her lungs through x-rays. The latest x-ray looked good but showed some fluid.
Her oxygen desaturations continued today and they had to use the ambu bag a couple of times to bring her oxygen levels back up within range. They are suctioning her tubes for secretions frequently to help this and to keep her airway clear.
The PDA in her heart is still open and there is a chance that it might require surgery. It is still a little early to determine at this point because sometimes they close up on their own. This is our prayer. We cannot say thanks enough to all of you for your prayers and support.
Little Tessa did open her eyes wide for mommy and daddy today. This always makes us smile. As I said, we have lots to be thankful for. We love our little girl.

And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

I'm glad Friday is over!!
If surgery is required to close the PDA is that something they would do now, or later?
Anthony you are doing such a great job at keeping us informed and letting us know how to pray specific. You explain everything so well. (when this is all over, you could be a doctor Or a PASTOR!!) We're Praying Hard!!

Prayer for Premature Infants
Our gracious heavenly father, thank you for this precious child that you have given this family. Lord, we know from your Word that you never leave us or forsake us. We call upon your name for comfort in our hour of need for you are our strength, our only refuge, and we seek peace in this time of uncertainty. Our hearts are overwhelmed with fear and doubt. You, Lord, are the Great Healer. We ask that you pour out your great healing power on this precious little lamb of yours. Bless and keep this little one surrounded with your abundant love and mercy. This is the prayer of our hearts. We ask these things in the precious name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
