Sleep is Good

Tessa must know what is coming tomorrow because today she is getting her rest. She has been sleeping soundly. She did open her eyes a couple of times for Mommy and Daddy to see. God answers prayers and has given her peace. Tomorrow, they plan to remove the ventilator and allow her to breathe completely on her own again. They will fit her with a high flow nasal cannula to deliver supplemental oxygen to her nose. This should be more comfortable and less restrictive than the CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) device that was used before. They also hope to resume their feedings of breast milk through the syringe tomorrow. Today, they are just allowing her more rest. They did resume her lipids today. Lipids are a fat that is injected directly into her IV. This gives her calories while not feeding. They had stopped this because her triglycerides in her bloodstream were too high. Her latest blood sugar test was 102. This is a dramatic improvement. Thanks be to God.

Today she also received her second cranial ultrasound. She slept through the whole thing although she has received no calming medications since last night. We should learn the results of the ultrasound tomorrow. Continue in prayer.
