Prayer Vigil

At this moment, we are constantly in prayer for Tessa's well being. We know all that is required is faith in the Lord and he will take care of our little girl. There is no room for doubt. Tessa is doing well this evening and blood gas levels have been stable. She is still on dopamine for blood pressure, fentanyl for sedation, antibiotics for infection, hyperal and lipids for nutrition. Unlike yesterday, she has been alert with her eyes open and looking around several times during the day today. Her weight today was 1lb 12oz.
Surgery is scheduled for 7:00am tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. During surgery, the cardiologist will make four small incisions between Tessa's ribs in her side and her back to insert his scope and instruments. He will gently push her lung to the side and use a small metal clamp to fix the PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) by closing the ductus arteriosus in her heart. This small artery is present in all newborns and was supposed to close on its own. Tessa's artery closed as it was supposed to when she was given medication but it later opened back up during her illness a couple of weeks ago.
The surgery is scheduled to last about 2 hours total. There will be about 1/2 hour to prep her for surgery and the procedure itself should also take about 1/2 hour. Afterwards they will use steristrips to close her incisions, complete all postoperative assessments, clean her up and make her comfortable. This will take about 1 hour. Mom and dad will be here with her before surgery and we will be anxiously waiting in the NICU waiting room tomorrow morning until they call us back in to see her following surgery. Please lift us all up in prayer during this time.
